Ribandar Manxer-Portais highway enroute  Old Goa junction to  Merces to Panjim witnessed “Chaka-chak Goa” a garbage cleaning drive to clear stewed garbage on the Chimbel bye-pass junction culvert on India’s Republic Day from 9.30 am.

The intensive cleaning drive with Ribandar locals supported by the volunteering students of Fr. Agnel School, Pilar clicked off at the Portais Immaculate Conception Chapel at 9.00 am.

Ribandar Chimbel Rakhon Somiti (RCRS) initiated this move to create awareness about the garbage problem and appealed to general public to avoid dumping garbage on roadsides, open spaces, fields and rivers. RCRS members along with Chaka-chak Goa collected plastic garbage for a proper disposal with the government approved contractor.
