The Portais Community Hall was inaugurated amid much pomp and gaiety by the Portais people on December 11, 2010 immediately after the commemoration of the feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. The structure still under final touches had a soft opening for public events.
The 1st event will be a Dine and Dance Gala on 26 December 2010. The Dine and Dance event initiated by John Lobo in 2004 was celebrated as a grand Christmas community event by Portais people with the Band LACE and participated by people from Patto, Chimbel and Fondvem wards of Ribandar. The annual Christmas event has become a traditional fest for Ribandar parishioners at the yuletide season.
This concept has been revitalized by the Portais Youth who once again promise to put up a grand free “Dine and Dance” show for the Ribandar parishioners and special guests on December 26, 2010 with a prominent one man band “Jus Leo” (www.jusleo.com) in attendance and lively entertainment backdrop.
